about

I love what Damon Albarn has done with the Gorillaz, so musically, I think this comes somewhere from that influence. Lyrically, I was moved by a story that Billy Corgan from the Smashing Pumpkins told about his song "33." About how he wrote it at age 27 about what his life might be like in 5 years. I imagined this as being some sort of revamped 50s pop song. This is also the first time I've ever played live drums on a song.

lyrics

You never lie to me
You never left my side
But I let you down
I made you cry
I didn't understand
What you meant to me
Or what I meant to you
More importantly
But you should know how much
I was in love with you
I know it doesn't make up for
What I put you through
So, now you lie to me
As you walk away
And you don't look back
You say you'll be okay

You keep wanting to start over
Some things change some things just stay the same
I feel my body getting older
I just can't let go
